I saw the white van, police forensics and cordened off area at the bottom of Mount Pleasant as I stepped off the train on Thursday, but I had hoped for the best and certainly had not expected the worst.

Unfortunately an elderly woman was hit and later died after being hit by the van.  There is not a huge amount of information as to what exactly happened (you can see Kent Online’s coverage here), but the current thinking is that the driver went through the red light after the roundabout (going up Mount Pleasant) and obviously couldn’t stop in time.

A sad Thursday, and I hope to keep this blog updated with any developments.
