Filter Coffee Comes to Tunbridge Wells via Perk & Pearl
Written on 17 Nov 2013

Although it's been open a few weeks, I only had the chance to pop in to Perk & Pearl yesterday (bottom of Grove Hill Road, next to the music shop). A box of chai tea from their had already made it in to our house, so I was excited at the prospect of having a nose around.
Whilst I didn't go in for the full tour of coffee, they're making the right noises around single origin and obviously have a good depth of knowledge about their product. It's always a good sign when they advise you to take your coffee black.
I believe Perk & Pearl is the first place in Tunbridge Wells to be serving freshly brewed filter coffee! This is exciting because it's a great opportunity for people to taste real filter coffee, as it is meant to be drunk. You can get a lot of flavour from filters.
Interesting to see to them targetting the commuters by opening at 0600 on weekdays; they're close enough to the station to make it work, and filter coffee is ridiculously quick to decant in to a cup.
Looking forward to rotating filters, ideally communicated via their twitter handle @PerkPearl!
