Tunbridge Wells Croissant Chart
Written on 22 Jun 2014

We've been meaning to put together a detailed table of all the croissants in town and where to go for the best one. Unfortunately, being a little pressed for time, that hasn't happened.
So, keeping this brief for the time being, here are the best croissants in Tunbridge Wells:
- Black Dog Cafe bake them up fresh in the morning and warm them before service; coupled with a dish of butter and jam, these are - by a country mile - the best croissants in Tunbridge Wells. I've had gloomy days after making the pilgrimage up to find they have run out. Equally it's one of the few places where I can justify two croissants in a row to myself
- Pret still has some of the best croissants on a High St. The Tunbridge Wells branch is no different, and these thick buttery baked-fresh beauties rarely dissapoint, although they are sometimes less consistent than Black Dog
- Arte Bianca do a fresh croissant and pain au chocolat; believe they are made/baked fresh on site
- Peter Speight (the butchers, don't expect a cup of coffee [although you can cross over to Shambles to enjoy your purchase]) do made-fresh croissant and pain au chocolat; time them right in the morning and it's a very enjoyable "eat whilst you walk" or take home pastry
- Juliets do a very enjoyable warmed up pain au chocolat. Technically not a croissant, but in the same genus and is worth getting it heated up for extra indulgence
So whilst this wasn't the photo-journalism-award winning post I was hoping it might be, it should help you find the best croissant in town.
